Key Lessons

Take notes!

When you are in a learning environment or in the presence of someone who has great knowledge, you need to capture it! As I attend meetings, it amazes me that people aren't memorializing that wisdom in their own words. I have notes from 25 years ago that still "speak" to me today...just as if I were still there.

Why are you here? Money?

As a result of having a "money now, fulfillment later" mentality, many people become imprisoned by their jobs - Can you relate? If sales is your true calling then commit to taking your mind off of money and focusing on a higher purpose.

What do you want out of life?

When you make goals for your life they have to encompass more than just the materialistic elements. True life transformational goals should be balanced in the 5 core areas of life - Mental, Spiritual, Physical, Social, and Financial. When you build the proper foundation from these elements, all the decisions you make about your life (and career) will be predicated on holistic success - not just the myopic view of "perks".

As you begin to think of your goals, what intense sensations do you feel?

Whether it is the avoidance of pain or the pursuit of pleasure, EMOTION is what drives us to action, or inaction.
For a moment, think of the kind of car you want? How would it feel to drive it?

Visualize your success to a level where it becomes not only compelling, but mandatory!

Visualize yourself in that new car. Go further and imagine yourself in the car with your partner.. in great shape and healthy! Imagine going out to eat and using a Platinum American Express card - that you pay with ease each month). All from a successful week at work, in sales!

You have to create a BIG vision for your life.

Create a vision that uses a desire for higher meaning in life as its core value. A vision that says, "I will enjoy my work and it will reward me with a complete and fulfilled life". BIG is not about whether you touch 100 people or 100,000. It is about the nature of that impact and rendering the "highest and best use" of the gifts and talents you were put on earth to share.
