Get to know the people around you.
While sales is an "individual sport," we all need human interaction. The sales profession is also a fraternity or fellowship. One where we can empathize with each other - our trials, tribulations and triumphs.
Be filled with a sense of urgency and eagerness.
You should be urgent, but never rush. Do you see the difference of the two? To be urgent is to be on purpose..to be in a rush is to be anxious. Particularly after a success (like a sale) you should punch through to a higher level with a renewed sense of urgency and purpose.

Under proper conditions (not always "ideal" conditions) seeds become mature and produce fruit. All of the things that Matt learned here (and in subsequent volumes) are the seeds that will germinate and become his destiny. The same applies for you - what seeds are you planting? Seeds of thought, words, actions, and habits are driving you toward a destiny. Is it the one you desire? If not, change the thoughts and everything else will change! Galatians 6:7 says, "Whatsoever a man sows that (and only that) shall he also reap."
My 4 Core Truths: #1 - Thoughts are the seeds of material expression.
Thoughts govern our success - from how much money we have to how rich our health and relationships are. Control your thoughts and direct your destiny. Give no thought to how things will happen or the timing. Thoughts are governed by the law of reciprocity: seed (thoughts) + time = harvest. Your job is to keep planting proper seeds of thoughts!
My 4 Core Truths: #2 - You can't skip any steps.
Quick success is an anomaly that has unintended consequences in our lives. There is a price that has to be paid to truly earn and enjoy success. Success is iterative and progressive and when someone has blazed the trail before us, it is predictable. Walk it out in faith!
My 4 Core Truths: # 3 - Harvest produces Gratitude.
When desires are met and problems are solved, that is a harvest in your life. Yes, some things are far off in the future but many of your harvests are here right now! Recognize them and give daily thanks for them!
My 4 Core Truths: #4 - Gratitude produces Giving and Giving makes Receiving possible.
As mentioned you don't get to skip any steps, so you must give while you struggle. Yes, you may only receive "just enough for the city." That is ok; give thanks for it, large and small! Continue the process until you are elevated out of struggle into success.
There will come a time in your life where success will not be enough.
You will desire a higher level of significance and ultimately, a legacy. It is at this advanced degree of living that you begin to do things with no thought of gain. Ironically, and somewhat paradoxically, this "people first" mindset actually sets the stage for the highest plane of human existence - from the material wealth perspective and human value proposition.
See, have faith, and believe!
Allow yourself to "see" past the circumstances that govern this present hour. Have "faith" that you were created for a great purpose and that sales is a part of your life's fabric. "Believe" that God's utmost desire is to see you taken care of... even if it is just Crumbs from the Master's Table. Believe me, that is more than enough!
